Seeing the other side

Imagine that you are holding a very large beach ball in your hands directly to your front. The beach ball is multi-colored and you can only see what the colors are directly in front of you. The people around you can only see the colors directly in front of them. How we perceive others are thinking is similar to the beach ball you are holding.
You can not see the other colors that they see unless you rotate the beach ball in your hands.
As a daily practice, we must see what others see as different from what we see. It will enable positive relationships and great teamwork and help us understand all of the facts, from everybody’s perspective so that the “right” solution is created for each ‘opportunity’.
How can you see their perspective?
We many different methodologies and processes that we have developed over the years that are within this website – to enable us to see the other side of the beach ball. But you can begin today by listening and engaging in open non-judgmental dialogs.
Okay, Lets try a scenario..
There once was an old lady with a cane, standing at a corner of a busy intersection with traffic moving North, South, East and West. She was facing South. The traffic in front of her had come to a stop because the traffic lights commanded them to do so. Observing that the lady would not cross the street when the traffic light permitted her to do so, a young man raced up to her when next the light change and the traffic stopped. ‘Ma’am’, he said, ‘I will help you across the street, please give me your arm’. She refused to do so, he took her arm and charged across the street with her trailing alongside of him. Pleased with himself, he let go of her arm, smiled because he had done a good thing and said pleasantly, ‘have a nice day, glad I could be of help’. She grimaced and said curtly, ‘I was standing there waiting for a taxi who was to pick me up there and now I see the taxi has gone without me. Next time you seek to be of help young man, ask if you can, listen and then act.

How about another..
There once was a group of software developers, a team they prided themselves as to be sure. Considered the best of the best by all who knew of them. On this day, they were assigned to meet with a business leader of their company who needed a business application repaired right away in order to report financial information to stockholders soon. The team swung into immediate action knowing among themselves what exactly had to be done, worked hard all day, all night for two straight days. Exhausted yet proud, they unveiled the ‘fix’ to the business leader who was amazed for what did his eyes gaze upon but a completely new and wonderful business application with bright colors, touch screen access, easy to use for sure. To which he told the software team, ‘it is nice what you have done but we have no touch screen compatible computers in our office and you did not fix the problem with the math formula. I will not be able to report the financials, I have failed and now the company stock value will fall.’
