where you want to beAs with any journey in life or an organization – it is important to clearly understand what your goal or destination is. It is widely known that successful people have a written future plan to guide them.

By envisioning your destination, it is easier and more practical to determine the steps on how to get there.

Adjustments in the plan and within the journey itself are more flexible when the destination is understood.

Take Notes – Be descriptive. Explain Why for each answer.

  1. Who are the stakeholders – very important people?

  2. What are the critical issues – are there any burning platforms?

  3. What do we want our customers to say about us?

  4. What are they saying they need – voice of the customer?

  5. Are there needs being met?

  6. What is the history of the organization and its people?

  7.  Lessons learned to date?

  8. Barriers to success – People, Process, Leadership, Relationships

  9. Organization willingness to alter course – resilience

Now write out your envisioned future.

10. Write your envisioned future in the present tense. As if you are there now

11. Is it clear and easily understood?

12. How will you know when you have arrived? Construct key metrics.
